One Missed Call

An experience kindly shared by member Gavin Edensor Here is mine. It’s when I lived back at home. My dad has recently passed away with cancer. I was in my bedroom and I was the only one in the house. I was thinking about him that day as some unusual things have happened recently. Side gate rattling etc anyways that another story altogether.

So I was fast asleep and my phone was on charge across the room. I had laminate flooring at the time which the phone was placed on.

All of a sudden my phone lit up and vibrated on the floor waking me up. The whole room was lit up but I was half asleep and thought it was my mates ringing me up drunk so I ignored it. After all it was like 2am!!

In the morning I took my phone off charge and looked at the missed call. The caller id said “home”. Obviously i was taken back as that meant someone rang my mobile from my house landline except I was the only one home.

Immediately I picked up the house phone and pressed redial. The number it redialed was another number from early on that day which I called so how did and why had my phone gone off? Someone rang my mobile from my house land line and to this day it remains a mystery!

St.Georges, I know what I saw

These are the questions I asked of a very nice lady today she works in St. Georges hospital, formerly Stafford County Lunatic Asylum.

What do think you experienced?
What time of day was it?
Were you alone?
What did you see/hear/smell/feel?
How did it make you feel?
Have you experienced it more than once?
Do you know anyone who has experienced something similar?

Her responses were:

1. I know I experienced this.
I was making a bed up, ready for a new patient on the ward where I’m based now. I was 100% alone in the room. As I was tucking the bedclothes in, I could see movement across the other side of the bed. i could see a nurse in uniform similar to what my mum wore in the 50’s. Dress, apron, hap. We don’t wear hats anywhere in the hospital. She appeared to be doing the same as me, smoothing out the top cover, tucking the sides in. I watched this for a few minutes, then she just disappeared.
2. It was just after 1 in the afternoon.
3.Alone.
4. As above. No smells, no sounds.
5. Didn’t feel scared at all, slightly elated tbh, not many people in this world can ‘see’ things.
6. Never seen her again, but where the ward main door is, I’ve seen figures walking in and out of the building. Can’t tell you what they were doing, just saw movement. Again, not scary.
7. A friend and I were sat having a cup of tea in the old building 1 evening, around 7ishhh I reckon. Bearing in mind most of the old hospital had been closed, door locks to the old wards changed, and no-one except a couple of people had keys.
We were on what was then Lapley Ward, with Haughton above. Sat talking, when we heard a vacuum cleaner being pulled from 1 end of the ward above us to the other end. No footsteps, just the sound of the hoover trundling over the lino above. We were alone apart from the porters who were locking up the building. When we spoke to them, the reply was, I have better things do with my evening than try and scare the living daylights out of you 2.

I also asked the same questions to another person who has worked in this hospital. Same questions as above and these are his answers.

1. I saw something.
2. It was 3pm blazing sunshine very hot day.
3. Alone but with 2 other people in the vicinity.
4. Saw the back of what I think was a man on all fours crawling down the large sewer pipe that I was getting into he appeared to be wearing threadbare light bluish trousers could only see the back looked like pajamas. It also felt colder than it should have been I did not want to touch the metal pipe as it seemed like it would be in winter even though it should have at least been warm down there.
5. Confused as I didn’t know what it was.
6. Never went down there again but have seen other things.
7. 2 work colleagues at separate times have seen a figure walking away from the same area and disappearing. They also told me (before my experience) that when the hospital was first built the area where we had seen these things was the area where patients had been put to work day in day out while they were in the asylum.

The pipe where I saw the figure is now sealed off.

Two accounts saying that they have experienced what can only be described as paranormal phenomenon in the middle of the day.  If you have any more questions feel free to comment and I will ask our interviewees.

Happy Haunting.

Day 1

Today is a landmark day it is the first day of Scary Stafford being fully up and running. So hooray! We have a few members of the group now and we are starting to get to know each other. Hopefully we can do some more recruiting and become a larger bunch. If all goes well we shall be organising our first hunt soon. So keep an eye out.

I have been asked to today to organise a Halloween outing so save the date as we shall be doing a walking  tour of Stafford pointing out ghoulish stories and ghostly going on. more information will be available at nearer the time.

Happy Hauntings

Good Evening

This is our very first post. So welcome and I hope you enjoy what is soon to come. Obviously you can find us on Facebook, our group Scary Stafford, and Stafford forum.

Our aim is to become a highly experienced group of individuals who are willing to investigate any suspected haunting, cryptozoological sighting or anything that seems generally a little bit weird or frightening. I’m pretty sure we are looking to have some deep discussions and pub meals too. All this work makes one thirsty.

If however someone comes to us who believes they may have a genuine supernatural or paranormal problem we will of course investigate and do our utmost to help free of charge.

Any questions leave a message and keep an eye out for updates.

Happy Hauntings!
